Job Duties: This is a wage position with no benefits. The role is located at the 72‑bed SVMHI inpatient psychiatric hospital, which is Joint Commission and CMS accredited. As a LPN at DBHDS you will provide advanced nursing care for patients with psychiatric disorders, safely implement seclusion/ restraints, and adhere to all applicable hospital policies, nursing standards and regulations.

• Complete BLS, Therapeutic Options (TO) and other required training upon employment.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication, team‑focused care and a professional approach.
• Plan, implement and evaluate patient care using knowledge of pharmacology, psychiatric and physical disorders, and cultural needs of each patient.
• Serve as a clinical resource and provide good clinical knowledge to staff.

Competitive Shift Differentials:

• 1st shift weekend: +$3.00 per hour
• 2nd shift weekday: +$3.50 per hour
• 2nd shift weekend/holidays: +$3.50 per hour
• 3rd shift weekday: +$2.50 per hour
• 3rd shift weekend/holidays: +$4.00 per hour

Orientation: This position requires completion of a 4‑week New Employee Orientation. Orientation hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with one hour lunch for Week 1 (no flexibility). Subsequent weeks will be scheduled by the Nurse Educator and may include evenings or nights. Minimum of 16 hours per week of orientation is required.

Schedule: Up to 28 hours per week on 2nd shift, minimal every other weekend, and holidays on a rotating basis.

• Current LPN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or license‑eligible.
• Basic computer skills; will be trained to complete documentation in an Electronic Health Record system.
• Valid driver’s license that remains in good standing.

• Experience as an LPN in a psychiatric facility, acute care, long‑term or correctional setting.
• Veteran status and prior National Service.
• Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English.
