Security Officer

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safety and well‑being of guests and fellow employees.
• Gives directions and provides escort to customers in need.
• Provides assistance to civil and law enforcement authorities, including testimony in court and other administrative hearings.
• Makes chip fills and jackpot verifications.
• Regularly provides escorts of money and persons in money‑handling positions and provides first aid, including CPR when necessary.
• Patrols all sections of property to identify safety hazards and security breaches.
• Interviews, investigates and documents all applicable incidents in accordance with company policy.
• Makes lost and found detailed descriptions of people and incidents.
• Enforces all company policies and procedures.
• Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Two years of experience in a position with direct guest contact is required.
• Prefer individuals with two years of police, military, or casino security experience.
• Prior experience is preferred for a position with direct guest contact.
• Ability to manage several tasks at once.
• Good oral and written communication skills and basic computer program knowledge.
• Must obtain and possess a Virginia Gaming License from the VA Lottery.
• Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift.
• Must present a well‑groomed appearance.
• Must undergo eight (8) hours of ASP ( baton ) training.
• Must prepare effective written reports.
• Must get along with co‑workers and work as a team.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record to operate company vehicle.

• Must be able to work and stand inside and outside, sometimes in heat in excess of 115°F, or cold as low as 10°F.
• Must be able to physically restrain individuals when a condition of arrest exists.
• Must respond calmly in crisis and stressful situations and make rational decisions when handling guest and employee issues.
• Must work independently.
• Must stoop, bend, jump, twist, crouch, grip, carry heavy loads and maneuver quickly on level surfaces, as well as up and down stairs.
• Must lift and carry up to 60 pounds and push or pull up to 150 pounds.
• Must remember the specific details of incidents and persons.
• Must read, write, speak and understand English.
• Must give court testimony when necessary and write detailed reports.
• Must tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust.
