The L/ATC shall be responsible for attending all sports activities as assigned by the Sports Medicine Coordinator, assisting team physicians as directed, maintaining written records on all athletes, and consulting with team physicians and coaches regarding injured athlete's status.

• Cover assigned athletic events.
• Render treatments as outlined by physicians for injured athletes.
• Assess injured athletes and refer appropriately to physicians.
• Maintain communication with team coaches regarding status of injured athletes.
• Contribute to positive work demands and the overall team effort of the Sports Medicine team.
• Abide by ethics and standards established by the NATA.
• Attend athletic events as assigned, assisting team physicians when in attendance.
• Record progress on injured athletes on established forms.
• Refer athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and treatment referral.
• Perform treatments as ordered by physicians.
• Maintain proper equipment and supplies pertinent to coverage of athletic events.
• Maintain a professional attitude toward all athletes and staff.
• Attend/participate in department/clinic in-services.
• Submit in writing to Sports Medicine Coordinator a record of incident or accident as soon as it occurs.

• Graduation from an approved college/university.
• Eligible/Certified through the National Athletic Trainers Association/BOC.
• Eligible/Licensed through the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers.

Stands, turns, bends, lifts, climbs, and uses a great deal of physical motion in daily activities. Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk extensively. Lifting and carrying equipment, supplies, and materials up to 50 lbs without help; over 50 lbs with help of mechanical devices or other personnel. Operation of electrical equipment and exposure to infectious materials. Visual acuity to perceive reactions to injury and/or treatment.

• Participates as a member of the health care team.
• Transports patients, maintains records, equipment and supplies as indicated.
• Observes and records patient condition, reactions and responses; reports information to physician/clinical director.
• Owns responsibility for the patient’s personal care and environment during treatment.
• Follows established safety procedures in the use of heat, cold, light, water, sound, electricity and massage.
• Carries out physician-prescribed rehabilitation protocols.
• Performs rehabilitation equipment use with proper instruction and demonstrated competency.
• Cares for braces, prostheses, bandages and other assistive devices.
• Acts as an assistant to the team physician during assessment, stabilization and transport of injured athletes.

• Informs immediate supervisor of pertinent information relative to Sports Medicine.
• Maintains supplies and equipment according to procedures.
• Performs duties as assigned by the Sports Medicine Coordinator and/or Clinical Director.
• Participates in appropriate conference and in-service programs where applicable.
