EastPointe Hospital is a private, free‑standing psychiatric hospital for adults and adolescent males (ages 12‑18) located in Daphne, Ala. EastPointe’s clinical and medical professionals assess and evaluate adults and adolescents in psychiatric crisis. Treatment focuses on stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and preventing psychiatric commitment. Adults and/or adolescents admitted to EastPointe will have exhibited life‑threatening, destructive or disabling behavior or symptoms. Each patient completes a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and receives 24‑hour clinical care for the duration of their stay.
The goal is for each patient to return to home or to the least restrictive level of care.
- Perform daily tasks of vital signs, blood sugar testing, intakes & outputs, EKGs, and assist consumers with activities of daily living (i.e., baths, positioning, feeding) under the direction of a licensed nurse.
- Provide ongoing monitoring and interaction with the consumers.
- Provide daily assessment of consumers’ behavior and record and submit information according to policy and standards.
- Assist consumers with personal care, activities, current events and safety issues.
- Provide training on basic living skills according to the consumer’s psychiatric rehabilitation goals.
- Demonstrate the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and know how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
- Effectively collaborate with the treatment team member.
- Demonstrate willingness to work on any unit at BayPointe/EastPointe based on facility needs.
- Model appropriate behavior including but not limited to communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.
- Meet AltaPointe productivity standards.
- Provide one‑to‑one coverage to consumers on special status as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Report accident or driving violations to supervisor and human resources.
- Accept and employ suggestions for improvement.
- Actively work to enhance skills.
- Document in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy.
- Document in a clear and concise manner the types of consumers’ problems, daily progress notes, progress on BLSs, treatment goals addressed, and services provided.
- Actively participate in performance improvement activities.
- Actively participate in AltaPointe committees as required.
- Follow AltaPointe policies and procedures.
- Attend appropriate in‑service trainings and workshops.
- Seek supervision and consultation as needed.
- Document legibly.

- Assist consumers and visitors as needed.

- Be gentle and calm with consumers and families.
- Frequent standing, sitting, and walking in bursts of 5‑10 minutes; may involve pacing with the consumer for undetermined time.
- Occasional forward bending from the hips while kneeling to reach to the side.
- Occasional need to assume a full squat/lunge from a standing position.
- Occasional need to maintain back extension while on stomach with own body weight on hips and legs for several minutes.
- Occasional ability to put one’s own body weight on one knee and one elbow on the same side of the body.
- Occasional ability to kneel and reach to same side toward the floor.
- Lift up to 10 pounds from the floor to various levels, including overhead occasionally during shift.
- Lift up to 50 pounds to assist in activities of daily living; able to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist.
- Strong grasp needed to use keys to open doors throughout the facility, and to maintain constant contact with a consumer during a restraint procedure or other hold techniques.
- Pushing/pulling force up to 25 pounds occasionally during shift.
- Ability to ambulate quickly to assist coworkers with a consumer in a restraint procedure (e.g., jog/run up to 0.1 mi).
- May perform therapy inside or outside the facility; some activities will dictate physical requirements for playing or games.
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
High School Diploma or GED and current Certified Nursing Assistant in Alabama required.
