Medevac Alabama is a growing ambulance service seeking dedicated Paramedics to join the team. Paramedics assess, treat, and transport patients to higher-level care facilities or other designated destinations, delivering professional care to an assigned patient population or work site while adhering to established standards of care and continuous quality improvement.
Paramedics provide advanced life support measures to stabilize critically ill or injured individuals. This may include airway management, IV therapy and medications, and defibrillation. The position is based in Daphne, AL, with responsibilities extending throughout the service area.
Essential Functions and Duties- Safely operate an emergency vehicle
- Assess the safety and hazards at the scene of an emergency
- Control hazards at an emergency scene as trained and directed
- Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury and establish priorities for emergency care
- Treat injuries or illness under the supervision of a physician using advanced life support techniques and medications
- Extricate patients from entrapment
- Provide special rescue services as trained
- Perform triage of patients and manage mass casualty situations
- Lift and move patients
- Utilize communication equipment to consult with physicians or notify hospitals of patient condition
- Complete detailed documentation on patient care and transport
- Understand and follow state and federal EMS regulations and related safety policies
- Report verbally to receiving physician on patient condition and interventions
- Maintain, clean, restock emergency supplies and equipment
- Attend continuing medical education (CME) on an ongoing basis
- NREMT-Paramedic
- Alabama State Paramedic EMSP license
- ACLS certification
- NIMS Training
- PALS Training
- CPR certification
- Knowledge of appropriate safety equipment when exposure to infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and clinics
- Critical thinking to evaluate and interpret information and make decisions with a partner
- Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
- Ability to respond to phone calls and emails quickly
- Ability to mix medications with correct knowledge of proper concentrations
