Overview
RN Acute, AM (Daphne) – AltaPointe Health Systems
Apply today for this critical nursing role at a private, free‑standing psychiatric hospital serving adults and adolescents. The position offers a $10,000 sign‑on bonus and a supportive professional environment focused on stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and preventing psychiatric commitment.
Responsibilities- Complete the admission process for all consumers, including nursing assessments, medication lists, vital signs, physician order transcription, AIMS, and admission notes.
- Observe and document consumer behavior in groups and activities, ensuring accurate information is reported during shift changes and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Supervise nursing care and task assignments for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and behavioral aides/specialists.
- Administer medications while observing the Six Rights and providing medication education to consumers and families.
- Communicate effectively with the physician regarding the consumer’s physical and mental status.
- Interface with the multidisciplinary team and actively participate in developing therapy and interdisciplinary treatment plans.
- Perform venipuncture for laboratory requests, monitor results, and report abnormal findings to the physician.
- Provide emergency care as needed (CPR, Mind Set, PRN medications) according to AltaPointe policy and procedures.
- Assist consumers with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and hygiene.
- Demonstrate willingness to work on any unit at EastPointe or BayPointe based on facility needs and supervisory direction.
- Recognize crisis situations and deescalate or resolve the situation, including Seclusion and Restraints per AltaPointe policy.
- Adhere to professional code of ethics, seek clinical supervision, and pursue continuous skill enhancement.
- Document in a timely, clear, and legible manner consumer problems, treatment goals, and services provided.
- Maintain current Alabama Registered Nurse license and comply with all required in‑services and workshops.
- Frequent standing, sitting, and walking in bursts of 5 to 10 minutes, with occasional need to pace with the consumer.
- Occasional forward bending, squatting, lifting up to 10 pounds from the floor to overhead, and lifting up to 50 pounds for activities of daily living.
- Ability to maintain back extension on the stomach and perform kneeling or reaching tasks as required.
- Strong grasp for opening doors and maintaining contact during restraint procedures.
- Push or pull up to 25 pounds and ambulate quickly for restraint procedures (e.g., jog/run up to 0.1 miles).
