Accounts Assistant – Accountancy Practice, Darlington | Full-Time | Permanent

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to join a friendly and supportive accountancy practice in Darlington.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to learn, develop their skills and gain exposure to all aspects of working within an accountancy practice. Whether you're at the beginning of your practice career or looking to build on your existing experience, you'll receive support and guidance from an experienced team while working with a varied portfolio of clients.

The Role

• As an Accounts Assistant, you'll gain hands-on experience across all areas of the practice, including:
• Preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• Assisting with management accounts.
• Supporting the preparation of personal and corporation tax returns.
• Processing payroll and pension submissions.
• Liaising with clients and responding to day-to-day queries.
• Working with a variety of accounting software.
• Providing general support across all areas of the practice.

About You

• We're looking for someone who:
• Has a genuine interest in pursuing a career within Accountancy Practice.
• Has excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Is enthusiastic, proactive and eager to learn.
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can work independently as well as part of a team.
• Has experience within an accountancy practice or is studying towards AAT (desirable but not essential).
