Morpeth, Northumberland Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 Type:
Full-time, Permanent | Day Shift (37.5 hours) A well-established and innovative manufacturing business, specialising in high-quality, safety-critical products, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join its growing UK operation. This is a hands-on role within a small, collaborative engineering team, offering the opportunity to play a key part in maintenance, manufacturing engineering, and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities Maintain and repair plant machinery including CNC sewing machines, ultrasonic welders, and spring winders (full training provided) Diagnose faults and implement effective, long-term corrective actions to minimise downtime Lead the introduction and development of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production Design and produce jigs and fixtures aligned with quality, cost, delivery, safety and customer requirements Source and manage spare parts, materials, and subcontractors in line with operational and cost targets Support health & safety compliance across all plant and machinery Develop and improve documentation, SOPs, and work instructions Assist with new product introduction, including supporting new machinery implementation Provide technical support during customer visits and occasional travel (UK and international) Train production operators in basic daily maintenance activities Support wider production operations when required Candidate Requirements HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) Time-served mechanical engineer Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment (safety-critical products advantageous) Strong experience maintaining pneumatic machinery Competent using Microsoft Office Confident working independently with strong problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams Passion for engineering, quality, safety, and continuous improvement About the Role This position offers a varied and dynamic workload within a small, agile team environment.
