Job : | Amazon UK Services Ltd.
JOB LOCATION:
Darlington, UK
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is central to Amazon's commitment to innovation. As Amazon evolves and adapts, this team ensures the tools and technologies we use perform at the highest standard. As a Senior RME Technician, you'll help us stay ahead, adopting new technologies and identifying efficient ways of working. In this role, you’ll focus on our processes to maintain high standards and implement upgrades to raise the bar.
Across Europe we have more than 50 Fulfillment Centers, hundreds of Delivery Stations, thousands of machines, and tens of thousands of employees. All work together in harmony to ensure the right item is delivered to the right person, in the right place, at the right time.
Join us in the Amazon Reliability Maintenance Engineering team. We maintain and optimize technologies in the Global Amazon Warehouse & Delivery Network.
We are looking for motivated, customer‑focused people to join our team as a Senior Reliability Maintenance Engineering Technician. The focus of the role is to ensure safety regulations and policies are adhered to, conduct preventative maintenance on time to the highest standard, and provide high levels of equipment availability through continuous improvement.
Shift Pattern:
This role includes working in a non‑traditional shift pattern, which may include nights and weekends.
- Demonstrate best practice in using equipment safely and monitor teams to ensure everyone follows correct processes.
- Track equipment performance through visual checks, condition‑based monitoring, and preventive maintenance tasks, scheduling additional servicing when required.
- Supervise technicians on shift to support their development and act as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues to reduce downtime for operations so packages can be processed as quickly as possible.
- Support the continuous improvement of systems and standardise processes across the EU network.
In every shift, you’ll lead a team to ensure everyone has the equipment they need and that it’s running properly. You’ll monitor processes so that regulations and policies are followed and ensure that preventive maintenance is carried out to increase equipment uptime.
You’ll review observations from your shifts, suggest improvements to make our systems more efficient and productive, and implement those improvements across an EU‑wide function. You’ll monitor processes with tools like SCADA to guarantee performance, and work closely with your line manager for administrative support.
This role is located at one of our operational sites. You’ll work shift patterns, which may include some weekends and nights. This provides an opportunity for career progression into more senior roles.
About the teamOur RME team keeps equipment performing at its best. We are a technically minded team of excellent players guided by experienced leaders. Together we maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment across the global network of fulfillment centers. Our team includes leaders who oversee the team as they work on exciting technology—some of which exists only at Amazon.
We handle most aspects of Amazon’s technical side, from installing automated packaging systems to overseeing general maintenance and repairing key distribution equipment. Our work also includes ensuring buildings are legally compliant and sites operate at maximum efficiency. There are many opportunities for progression, within the RME team and across Amazon.
Everything we do focuses on reducing downtime so customers receive orders on time. We often work early or late hours to carry out maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts. When we spot a better way to do something, we have the skills and opportunity to develop and introduce new processes or cutting‑edge technology like Amazon Robotics and the Complex Item Sorter.
