Job Overview

This is a newly created role forming part of a Kinship Local Offer, designed to provide practical, emotional and specialist support to carers and children following a Special Guardianship Order (SGO) or Child Arrangements Order (CAO).

You will provide 1:1 support to kinship carers and children, helping families access the services, advice and resources they need to thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Supporting kinship carers with education and accessing relevant service

* Providing support around specific childcare and child development needs

* Offering advice and guidance around maintaining family relationships

* Supporting carers to access the Adoption Support Fund

* Facilitating and coordinating access to support through the fund

* Signposting carers to relevant training and development opportunities

* Providing practical and emotional support to carers and children

* Building positive relationships with families and partner services

* Identifying additional support needs and connecting families with appropriate services

* Working flexibly across the borough to meet the needs of families

Family Support Worker Requirement

- Experience supporting children, families or carers
- An understanding of the needs and challenges faced by Kinship Carers
- A genuine passion for supporting children and families
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to provide practical, person-centred support
- Knowledge of relevant family support services and resources
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
