Electrical Design Engineer

Position: Electrical Design Engineer (Permanent)
Our client, awell-established and technically respected engineering organisation, operating within the UK power and electrical infrastructure sector, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis to support continued growth. The business delivers bespoke HV and LV switch gear and control panel solutions for a broad industrial and commercial client base across the country.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and develop detailed HV/LV switch gear and control panel layouts using CAD software

* Produce electrical schematics, GA drawings, and panel arrangements to client specifications

* Collaborate with project engineers to ensure correct component selection in line with standards, availability, and cost targets

* Generate complete BOMs / parts lists to support procurement and manufacturing

* Ensure all designs comply with current British Standards, industry regulations, and internal procedures

Essential Requirements

* Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering

* Proven experience in LV switch gear and electrical installation design

* Strong understanding of BS standards and electrical compliance

* Ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering drawings

* Experience with CAD systems (EPLAN highly desirable)

* Strong technical communication skills and fluent English

* Right to work in the UK

Desirable Experience

* HV switch gear and installation design

* Control systems and PLC circuit design

* Exposure to bespoke or engineered-to-order electrical solutions
