This is not a traditional design role. Working alongside experts in engineering, manufacturing, digitaltechnologyand research,you'lltake innovative concepts from early-stage development through testing and validation to real-worldapplication.

From advancing Steel-Plate composite construction to bespoke automated manufacturing facilities supporting the future of clean energy,you'llhelp create the technologies and solutions that will define the next generation of energy infrastructure.

As a Product Development Engineer within our Technology &Innovation team,you'llcombine structural engineeringexpertisewith innovation, advancedmanufacturingand product development to create smarter, more efficient ways of deliveringclean energy infrastructure. Working at the interface of design,manufacturing and construction,you'llhelp shape future methods of reinforcement,prefabricationand modern construction solutions for major infrastructure programmes.

You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to turn innovative ideas into practical, scalable outcomes that improve project delivery.

• Develop innovative permanent works design solutions that support advanced manufacturing, particularly preassembled reinforcement cage solutions.
• Lead and support technology and innovation initiatives that align design and detailing with advanced manufacturing requirements.
• Work with Design Automation and Configuration teams to improve design efficiency,consistency and repeatability.
• Identify and develop new product opportunities for the Energy sector, ensuring solutions are compliant,practical and manufacturable.
• Provide early-stage engineering input to embed Modern Methods of Construction into future green energyprojects.
• Deliver structural engineeringexpertiseacross a range of Technology & Innovation activities.
• Optimisepermanent and temporaryworkssolutions to support advanced manufacturing facilities and project outcomes.
• Build strong relationships across clients, designers,suppliers and internal teams to help drive innovation adoption.

• Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineeringor livedexperience.
• Civil and structural engineering design capability with knowledge of relevant design codes and standards.
• Excellent understanding of structuralbehaviourand first-principles engineering.
• A passion for innovation, continuousimprovementand solving complex technical challenges.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders.

• Experience in product development, innovation or research and development environments.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods,prefabricationand product-based engineering approaches.
• Temporary Works design experience withinconstruction ormajor infrastructure projects.
• Progress towards professional chartership with ICE,IStruct
  
  Eor a similar institution.
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and helping shape new ways of working.
• Enthusiasm foremergingtechnologies and turning ideas into practical outcomes.
