This is a full-time, on-site Quantity Surveyor role based in Dartford. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for reactive works, planned maintenance, and project or remedial works. Day-to-day tasks include conducting site visits, measuring and valuing works, assessing variations, and preparing interim and final accounts. The role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to manage financial risk, monitor project costs, and ensure value for money.
The Quantity Surveyor will also contribute to procurement activities, assist in contract negotiation, and maintain accurate records to support reporting and compliance requirements.
- Strong skills in cost estimating, budgeting, and financial analysis for building services and maintenance projects.
- Experience in measurement and valuation of works, preparation of bills of quantities, and management of variations and claims.
- Knowledge of construction and FM contracts, procurement processes, and commercial risk management.
- Familiarity with facilities management environments, including M&E services such as HVAC, electrical, fire safety, and water hygiene.
- Proficiency with relevant surveying and office software (e.g., MS Excel, measurement tools, project or FM systems).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on-site.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction/commercial discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Membership or working toward membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is an advantage.
- Understanding of UK regulations and standards related to building compliance, health and safety, and FM services.
