Job Description & How to Apply Below
Project Manager - DfMA Piping Systems You might be someone looking to take that step into project management but not had the opportunity yet.
Location:
Sherwood, Manchester, Worksop or Dartford Construction has operated the same way for generations. We're changing that. Our vision is to transform construction through industrialised manufacturing—creating, proving and deploying technologies that make building safer, smarter, faster and more predictable.
At Laing O'Rourke, our R&D Manufacturing team is turning breakthrough ideas into real-world solutions that are redefining how construction is delivered. As part of the Technology & Innovation team, they sit at the forefront of the industry's evolution, accelerating the shift from traditional building methods to a smarter, more advanced future.
With the capability to create digital twins, develop bespoke production lines, trial emerging manufacturing technologies and test new products at scale, this is far more than modern methods of construction. It is the future of construction, being built today.
Behind every DfMA innovation lies a sophisticated programme of research, testing and validation. Working closely with our in-house design, digital engineering, manufacturing and delivery teams, the R&D Manufacturing team transforms ambitious concepts into scalable, industry-changing solutions that are shaping the next generation of construction.
Drive the development, industrialisation and deployment of next-generation off-site modular manufacturing solutions.
The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of advanced modular manufacturing solutions focused on complex piping systems, fabrication technologies, automated production processes and off-site construction methods.
Working at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing and innovation, you will take concepts from development through to manufacturing readiness and deployment. You will play a key role in accelerating the adoption of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), automation, robotics and digital manufacturing technologies, helping to transform how critical infrastructure and industrial facilities are designed, manufactured and delivered.
This role offers the opportunity to shape innovative off-site modular solutions that can be applied across a range of sectors including petrochemical, water treatment, oil and gas, process engineering, energy and other complex industrial environments where piping systems, modular assemblies and advanced manufacturing play a critical role.
Could this be the role for you?
• Do you enjoy turning engineering concepts into scalable manufacturing solutions that improve productivity, quality and safety?
• Have you successfully delivered complex projects involving piping systems, fabrication, welding, modular construction or automated manufacturing technologies?
• Are you passionate about industrial innovation, off-site manufacturing and developing new ways to deliver large-scale infrastructure solutions?
Key Responsibilities
• Lead multidisciplinary teams in the development and delivery of modular systems, integrated mechanical assemblies and advanced manufacturing solutions.
• Manage projects from concept development through engineering, manufacturing readiness, qualification, commissioning and deployment.
• Drive the implementation of automated welding, robotics, digital manufacturing and advanced fabrication technologies.
• Lead the development and validation of new manufacturing processes, inspection methods and quality assurance approaches.
• Develop manufacturing strategies that support factory-built solutions, off-site construction and DfMA principles.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, risks and stakeholder reporting to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Act as the key interface between customers, engineering teams, designers, manufacturing facilities and delivery stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and technical specialists to support project delivery and innovation.
• Support business development activities including customer engagement,…
