Director of Finance Permanent Dartford, Kent Posted 2 days ago £100000 - £120000 per annum
This role has 3 direct reports. (Two Finance Team and One IT Team member, plus Health & Safety Delegates).
Duties:
- Direct & control the Finance team & IT team, ensure they are competent, motivated & developed to carry out their duties to the required standard.
- Ensure that Health & Safety policy & procedures are implemented in the business and adhered to with an effective reporting mechanism.
- Develop & manage a financial strategy that supports & drives the company’s business objectives
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process for the business so that the group has a clear financial plan and can manage performance proactively.
- Provide advice and support to the executive and management team to enable them to meet their objectives.
- Oversee the preparation of the company’s financial accounts ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure preparation of monthly management accounts for the company, so that the business have accurate, timely insight into performance.
- Produce weekly flash results and KPIs, so that operational and commercial teams can respond quickly to trends and variances.
- Maintain and strengthen financial controls, processes, and systems across the group, so that financial data is reliable, risks are minimised, and the business operates with discipline.
- Develop & lead IT strategy to ensure the business’s systems & network are robust & that the business can capitalise on digital developments to automate processes and/or improve information
- Manage cashflow forecasting and treasury activity, so that the group maintains strong liquidity, meets obligations, and optimises working capital.
- Oversee VAT, PAYE and statutory submissions so that the group remains fully compliant and avoids penalties or regulatory issues.
- Attend board meetings and present financial performance, so that strategic decisions are informed by accurate financial insight and risk assessment.
- Ensure business is adequately insured & compliant with the policy requirements
- Work closely with operations and commercial teams across the group, so that financial understanding supports operational efficiency, margin improvement, accurate customer costings/tenders and cost control.
Attributes:
- Strong management accounting and cashflow forecasting experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience working with multi-entity or group structures
- Ability to lead and develop a small finance team
- Confident dealing with banks, auditors, and HMRC
- Strong Excel and financial systems capability
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at senior level experience in fast-moving, high-pressured environment
- Experience presenting at board level
- Experience improving financial processes and systems
This is a permanent role office based.
