Self‑ PAT Testing Engineer

JR PAT Testing is growing rapidly across the UK. We are looking for experienced PAT Engineers who have their own equipment and insurance.

We provide an engineer handbook, contract for services, branded clothing, and technical support; all our engineers must have their own insurance and have their equipment calibrated at least once a year.

We are an expanding PAT and compliance company based in Dartford, offering flexible hours for part‑time or full‑time self‑employed engineers. Roles include on‑site testing, record‑keeping, and communication with clients. Projects range from one‑day visits to longer contracts. Earnings are pro‑rated based on the rate per appliance, number of tests, and project dynamics.

Start the day by packing necessary tools and equipment into the van. Visit various sites – hospitals, retail outlets, or offices – and conduct PAT tests on appliances such as microwaves, kettles, and computers. Explain results to users and recommend repairs or replacements when needed. Record findings in a PAT test report book or electronic system and issue completion certificates or checklists.

Travel continually between sites; staying organised ensures accurate, efficient testing. The role demands skill, experience, patience, and a “can‑do” attitude.

The position is physically and mentally demanding but offers variety and opportunities for advancement.
