Job Overview

The UTC team is passionate about getting it right for patients and their families – in order to achieve this we are looking to recruit a Band 7 Emergency Nurse Practitioner/Emergency Care Practitioner to complement our existing team. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have a proven background in minor injury/illness or primary care and have the ability to provide a complete package of care to minor injury/illness patients whilst working under pressure.

You will work within a team of Practitioners to ensure a seamless high standard of service provision, currently over 16 hours of the day. You will be committed to excellent patient care and staff development with a desire to promote change and quality throughout the team.

There is opportunity for further development as the department is supported by a Nurse Consultant and Clinical Lead. You will be confident in your ability to assess and streamline the full range of patients who present to a busy Urgent Treatment Centre.

Darent Valley Hospital has a first class reputation in the South East as one of the leading trusts for achieving good CQC standards and national target achievements. It is one of the fastest growing and developing areas and is committed to adapting to meet this growth. We are an organisation that knows that the more staff enjoy their work the better the care is for the patients.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder is professionally accountable for the efficient co‑ordination of delivery of care for patients in the Urgent Treatment Centre (predominantly minors and paediatric area), as an integrated part of the Emergency Department. This starts right at the front door: streaming assessment, assessing patients, planning their care, administering treatment and discharging or referring them as appropriate to other healthcare professionals or external agencies.

The post holder will be required to work as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi‑professional team, within a fast‑paced environment, to deliver emergency care to patients across the entire age continuum with minor injuries/illness in line with protocols and policies of the local service.

Inclusive Employment

We are committed to being an inclusive and diverse employer. We strive to employ people who reflect the communities we serve and aim to create an inclusive culture where everyone can reach their full potential. Whatever your race, ethnicity, belief, generation, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity, disability or experience, you’ll appreciate the opportunities we give you to work in an inclusive atmosphere.

We welcome applications from people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences to build on the progress we have achieved to make our Trust diverse and the best place to work. We celebrate the diversity of thought, viewpoints and ideas that help us overcome challenges and embrace new possibilities. We have signed the Armed Forces Covenant Pledge and have a commitment to the Armed Forces Community.

Health

& Safety

If you are considering applying for a role, please be aware that as an NHS Employee you may have contact with vulnerable service users. We strongly encourage that all our staff are vaccinated against COVID‑19 and are vaccinated annually against Flu, in order to protect the health and safety of our staff and patients. Your commitment will help us to put the safety and care of our patients first, as well as helping us to protect you and your colleagues.
