Overview

The Director of Academic Studies is the senior leadership post overseeing the University of Lincoln’s Maritime Studies Centre at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, Devon. The role leads the academic staff and manages a team of up to twenty full‑time and associate lecturers, working alongside the University’s overall Selborne Programme Director and serving as a key senior leader within the University, Team Fisher and the College.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the academic staff at BRNC Dartmouth and oversee day‑to‑day operations.
• Plan and deliver long‑term change while maintaining and improving quality of programmes.
• Modernise the Centre’s courses and programmes to support the Royal Navy and Team Fisher.
• Contribute to strategic planning in collaboration with the University and the College.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and oversight requirements.

Qualifications

• Relevant PhD or equivalent in a related discipline. A post‑graduate qualification in Higher Education or Teaching and Learning is desirable and will be supported if not already held through HEA status or other programmes.

Proven track record in academic delivery in one of the five core subjects or a related subject, including lecturing where required.

• Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills with the ability to plan and deliver long‑term change.

Eligibility and Requirements

• This post requires a BPSS check followed by a Security Clearance.

Interviews are planned for Thursday 23 July 2026, subject to change.
