The Senior Courseware Developer is responsible for leading the development of courseware and instructional materials that support effective learning and performance outcomes. This role applies advanced expertise in instructional design, adult learning principles, and eLearning development to create innovative, learner-centered training solutions.

Working collaboratively with Instructional Systems Designers (ISDs), subject matter experts, and key stakeholders, the Senior Courseware Developer translates complex technical concepts into clear, engaging, and effective learning content aligned to defined learning objectives. The role leverages modern authoring tools, multimedia technologies, and industry-standard Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies to develop scalable eLearning, assessments, and blended learning solutions that enhance learner engagement, knowledge retention, and operational readiness.
By transforming complex information into meaningful learning experiences, the Senior Courseware Developer enables Navy personnel to acquire the knowledge and skills required to perform confidently and effectively in support of operational demands.

• Lead the development and maintenance of courseware, assessments, training materials, and supporting documentation.
• Design and develop engaging, learner-centered courseware aligned with instructional objectives and operational requirements.
• Lead eLearning development activities, including data collection, storyboarding, scripting, reviews, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
• Apply industry-standard instructional design methodologies and authoring tools to deliver high-quality learning solutions.
• Develop interactive eLearning and blended learning programs that support learner engagement and knowledge retention.
• Drive continuous improvement of training products through evaluation, validation, and learner feedback.
• Ensure courseware meets quality, accessibility, and organizational standards.
• Collaborate with technical teams, instructional designers, and stakeholders to maintain the accuracy and effectiveness of learning products.
• Coordinate and deliver courseware demonstrations for customers, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Support customer engagement by gathering requirements and recommending training solution enhancements.

• Post-secondary diploma in a related field; or
• Certificate in Adult Education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the education, training, instructional design, or courseware development field.
• Experience supporting training development within the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), or a comparable civilian environment is preferred.

• Experience developing military or technical training programs.
• Familiarity with Navy, Defence, or operational training environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead courseware development activities and mentor team members.
• Commitment to innovation, learner engagement, and instructional excellence.
