Job Description

The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.

The Electrical Engineering Technologist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team developing new and innovative electronics solutions to meet customer needs. The Electrical Engineering Technologist supports many aspects of product development including design, build, and testing.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design, development, build, and testing of electrical systems and components.
  • Prepare and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of electrical equipment.
  • Document and report on project progress, including preparing technical reports and presentations.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering technology.
Required Skills
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Ability to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articles.
  • Candidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Reliability and Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills
  • Proficiency in electrical design, including wiring diagrams and PCB layouts.
  • Familiarity with electronic lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting circuit cards.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Soldering (IPC J-STD-001 certification preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel within Canada, US and Overseas.

Typically, a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 3+ years of related experience. Associate Degree (or equivalent) preferred.
