Kraken Robotics is currently recruiting for a Junior Systems Engineer to join our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office or Mount Pearl, NL.

The Junior Systems Engineers at Kraken are responsible for supporting the Systems Engineering processes at Kraken under the guidance of Senior Systems Engineers and Intermediate Systems Engineers.

As part of this role, the Junior Systems Engineer will apply knowledge of standard and Kraken-specific Systems Engineering concepts to product and project development.

Primary Focus
  • Requirements engineering, including development/derivation, documentation, and maintenance of documented requirements
  • Verification and validation planning for documented requirements
  • Interface definition and management
  • System architecture definition and management
  • Concept of operations definitionsandmanagement
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Applying engineering knowledge and a Systems Engineering mindset/approach to large and/or complex projects in the design, development, test, integration, verification, validation and operation of complex, specializedproductsand/or technologies
  • Collaborating with external and internal stakeholders to:
    • Assistin the development and maintenance of Concept of Operations/Operational Scenarios.
    • Assistin generating System Architecture concepts for solutions.
    • Assistin the development/decomposition of technical system requirements from functional business,customer and other stakeholder requirements
    • Maintain requirements traceability throughout projects
  • Collaborate with Functional Engineering and Systems Engineering team to generate and maintain:
    • Trade studies, analyses, and modeling in support of requirements and systems development
    • Sub system Architectures and flow down tocomponentlevel CIs
    • Interface with functional engineering teams during the design process to ensure derived and explicit requirements are met.
  • Build detailed verification andvalidationtest plans based on developed requirements, in collaboration with the functional engineering team.
  • Assistin the execution of integration and testing based on developed plans.
  • Participate in system and subsystem commissioning,deployment and servicing.
  • Assistin the development and continual improvement of Kraken's System Engineering processes
  • Work with Discipline Engineers and Operations to:
    • Assist with technical reviews
    • Support investigations and troubleshooting as needed
    • Support integration and testing activities
    • Assistin the development of test plans and procedures for verification and validation activities
  • Maintain the necessary Systems Engineering processes used within Kraken
  • Additional Systems Engineering  tasking as required
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • ASEP certification from INCOSE orequivalentan asset.
  • A background in developing systems from concept through production and deployment
  • Highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills, initiative, problem solving skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and willingness to learn and adapt
Preferred Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with subject matter experts, colleagues, clients, and users
  • Skills in standard Microsoft Office, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point
  • Familiarity with diagramming tools such as Microsoft Visio, draw.io,Figmaetc.
  • Experience working within the defense, maritime and/or aerospace domains
  • Experience working with designs for marine environments
  • Experience in autonomous vehicle systems or robotics
Regulatory/Security Requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain

    Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program
  • Must be eligible to obtain andmaintaina government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
