Senior Chemical/Process Engineer

Syntra Refining Corp. is an advanced technology company specializing in critical mineral processing. The company is building a commercial‑scale facility in Halifax and seeks a Senior Chemical/Process Engineer to lead the scale‑up and commissioning of the proprietary Syn Core technology.

• Support scale‑up from operating pilot to continuous commercial operations, ensuring strict Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and yield requirements.
• Act as the nexus between process chemists, automation/controls engineers and mechanical operators to ensure seamless system integration.
• Support external EPCM firms and equipment vendors, translating the core flowsheet into actionable industrial compliance and plant architecture.
• Establish standard operating procedures, safety protocols and process control parameters required to transition from R&D to project‑oriented execution and continuous operations.
• Anticipate and resolve physical scaling bottlenecks related to fluid dynamics, continuous flow‑through chemistry and equipment tolerance.

• Registered (or immediately eligible) Skilled Engineer (P.Eng) preferred.
• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering;
  Master’s preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial processing, chemical refining or hydrometallurgy.
• Experience moving a process from TRL 7 to TRL 9 highly preferred.
• Deep technical familiarity with solid‑liquid separation (e.g., filter presses), high‑pressure piping and hydraulic calculations (e.g., pump sizing).
• Natural leader and independent thinker capable of aligning cross‑functional, interdisciplinary teams toward commissioning deadlines.
• Commercial awareness of CAPEX/OPEX impacts and timeline‑to‑revenue considerations.
