The Energy Manager will be responsible for engaging with all stakeholders involved in provincial healthcare construction. Reporting to both the Manager, Energy Management Services at Efficiency One and an organizational lead, the Energy Manager will provide technical support related to energy efficiency for provincial healthcare new construction and large retrofits, as well as work with third-party engineering firms and contractors to influence energy management activities within the provincial government.

The Energy Manager will be accountable for contributing to capital planning and assisting with the implementation of energy efficiency projects. Furthermore, the Energy Manager will support business case development for projects and packages of projects for buildings, as well as evaluate and apply for outside funding opportunities for energy efficiency projects.

• Impacting major capital health projects through influencing the systems delivering infrastructure.
• Work with stakeholders (DHW, NSH, Build NS/DPW) of new health construction projects to implement governance that will support Provincial Net Zero Legislation.
• Create a roadmap document that outlines the resources needed to implement projects identified by the NSHA and IWK. The roadmap should also extrapolate the resources needed to meet provincial GHG emission targets.
• To support this governance work, develop a guideline document that summarizes best design practices for energy efficiency in new healthcare facilities through engagement in lobbying groups and building on work completed within the NSHA.
• Input to policies that support energy efficiency and decarbonization.
• Drive investment in Energy Efficiency within Healthcare through provincial, federal, and special purpose funding avenues.
• Support energy-related projects of provincial interest within healthcare (alternate fuels, electrification, etc.)
• Provide the ‘energy lens’ to strategic planning for future infrastructure in NS, by demonstrating impacts in healthcare planning.
• Responsible for contributing to energy projects and policy planning and assisting with the implementation of energy projects as well as identifying building optimization opportunities in a portfolio of existing buildings.
• Responsible for involvement in Energy Management activities on both a technical, policy, and governance level for the assigned client.
• Involved in Project management activities (budget reviews, work orders, communications, meetings, etc.).
• Responsible for utilizing building automation systems and energy management information systems to track energy usage and identify energy savings opportunities.
