Installation Technician
Overview
Verge Technologies is a technology solutions provider seeking multiple roles described below. Roles are based in Nova Scotia and involve project leadership, field installation, and support functions across Security, Life-Safety, and ProAV systems, as well as related administrative duties in some cases.
Project Manager, SystemsLocation:
Dartmouth, NS. Reports to the Director of Operations. Responsible for day-to-day management of open projects related to Security, Life-Safety, and ProAV technology. Works with project managers, operations coordinators, and the director to ensure successful outcomes and a positive client experience.
Responsibilities
- Understand, own, and lead implementation of Security, Life-Safety, and ProAV system deployments with a focus on user experience and end functional states.
- Build and maintain project trackers for all open projects in collaboration with lead technicians.
- Create and manage work breakdown structures with lead technicians to optimize on-site efficiencies.
- Manage and own project delivery with emphasis on meeting or exceeding gross profit expectations.
- Prepare, administer, and progress claims for assigned projects.
- Assemble and submit shop drawings, commissioning plans, as-builts, test results, training plans, etc.
- Act as liaison between sales, technicians, and customers as required.
- Serve as point of contact for customers and/or other trades (external).
- Attend project meetings and coordinate site access, materials, and resources.
- Ensure field timesheets are completed correctly and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports.
- Promote environmental health & safety practices and plan projects according to timelines and blueprints.
- Coordinate and motivate team members; provide on-the-job training and mentorship.
- Collaborate with solution designers to ensure quality installs and end-functional states.
- Assist with training and development of field resources; monitor project KPIs with reporting obligations to Controller and Director of Operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Experience & Knowledge Required
- 5+ years of project management experience within a similar industry (trades).
- 5+ years of field installation experience within Security, Life-Safety, or ProAV (asset).
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer liaison abilities with professional demeanor.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and industry software tools;
Click-up, MS Project, Quick Books, D-Tools, CAD, Blue Beam (asset).
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driver abstract.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and as needed.
- Must pass criminal record check and maintain government security clearances.

Location:
Nova Scotia. Full-time permanent position. Responsible for leading system installations and ensuring quality across Electronic Access Control, Public Address & Intercom, CCTV, Intrusion Alarm, Nurse Call, and Integrated Lockdown systems.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead project installations; manage project team, schedule, customer expectations, and be accountable for the end project.
- Install equipment and related wiring; lead system programming, configurations, and commissioning.
- Interpret architectural, elevation, and schematic drawings; communicate system specifications to customers.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork; attend service calls to troubleshoot systems.
- Adhere to health & safety practices; plan work according to timelines and blueprints.
- Coordinate site surveys, basic estimating for time and materials, and liaise with customers.
- Mentor and train team members; ensure readiness of field resources.
- Knowledge of IP networks and ability to configure IP-based solutions.
- Test, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues; manage workload to complete jobs on time and on budget.
Experience Required
- 5+ years in commercial building or healthcare security technology; supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Commercial PA Systems, Building Security Tech, Healthcare Communication Systems; ability to test and troubleshoot complex issues.
- Preference for experience with manufacturers such as TOA, Carehawk, Keyscan, Honeywell, ASCOM, Salto, iPro, HID.
- Willingness to travel within Atlantic Canada; overtime as required.
