Towed Array Technician

Ultra Maritime is seeking a skilled technician to assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair electronic, mechanical, and electro/mechanical assemblies and complete systems. The role supports advanced naval solutions and requires strong hands‑on technical capabilities.

Candidate must be eligible to obtain the relevant Canadian government security clearance required for the role. The position involves work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects.

• Assemble tests, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of electronics, electronic assemblies, and sub‑assemblies.
• Assemble, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair complete mechanical and electro/mechanical assemblies in accordance with specifications, diagrams, and drawings.
• Operate environmental chambers and apply knowledge to provide timely testing of complex products.
• Configure test equipment, build electronic jigs and fixtures, and employ electrostatic discharge precautions.
• Set up and operate test equipment, maintain test records for operator verification, and compile analysis reports and failure reports.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure continuity of activities and manage implementation of engineering changes.
• Maintain line quality and output in accordance with the production schedule, and investigate workmanship and material non‑conformances.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring, propose design changes, and maintain tools and work area in a safe, orderly and clean manner.

• Grade 12 with recognised community college technician/technologist qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong ability to gain appropriate Canadian government security clearance.
• Willingness to work day, evening, and back shift.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of electronic materials, principles, circuit construction, and quality control procedures.
• Knowledge of recognised industry workmanship standards and soldering skills compliant with those standards.
• Proficiency in using basic software applications (email, web browser, word processing, database operation).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and good verbal and written communication.
• Good understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles.
• Ability to maintain a high level of productivity without compromising quality standards.
• Positive, can‑do attitude; capable of working with change, teamwork, and attention to detail.

• Proven mechanical aptitude.
• Experience with verbal instructions, sketch drawings, and wiring diagrams.
• Proficient in use of power tools (Router, Dremel, Drill, Drill press), overhead cranes, winches, and common test equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope, measuring devices).

Willing to use hand‑held power tools, operate overhead cranes and winches, and work with common test equipment.
