Atlantica is seeking qualified candidates for the role of HSE Advisor in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia This role is responsible for the implementation and promotion of our Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) systems at Atlantica’s project sites.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the HSE Lead and working in an exciting and collaborative environment, you will:

  • Promote Atlantica’s strong safety culture and HSE program by being a safety champion through every part of the organization, including at job sites, in fabrication shops, and in the office.
  • Work with Project Managers to set up projects in accordance with Atlantica’s procedures, including but not limited to completing Comprehensive Hazard Assessments.
  • Support the planning of site activities, including confined space entry, lift plans, working at heights, and other high-risk work activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HSE-related matters between clients, Atlantica’s Project Managers and Supervisors
  • Provide ongoing HSE support and guidance to project teams to ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Spend time at job sites to complete site inspections and conduct routine inspections of work areas, including conducting and reviewing completed Safety Observations, Hazard Assessments, and Risk Assessments
  • Hold safety meetings, attend site toolbox talks and prepare safety notices, toolbox talk topics, etc. and distribute appropriately within the organization.
  • Lead safety training program, including facilitating internal training, coordinating external training, tracking training and ensuring required training is valid and up to date for employees
  • Track and report on OHS statistics and activities, including filing/scanning, entering data into existing reports and producing new ad-hoc reports
  • Prepare OHS Manuals and necessary OHS material for job start up
  • Prepare and finalize documentation pertaining to HSE Audits
  • Conduct incident investigations as required
  • Other duties as required to support and promote the HSE program
Who are we looking for?

Education and Experience:
  • Five or more years of construction safety experience in an industrial, commercial, or institutional environment, preferably in Mechanical and/or Electrical construction
  • Diploma/Degree in Health and Safety Management or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Knowledge and use of all necessary Government Acts, Legislation and Requirements
  • Investigation training would be considered an asset
  • NCSO designation is also considered an asset
About you:
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; including comfort with presentations and facilitating training programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience and comfort with using Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and HSE reporting software
  • Ability to travel throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to various worksites – must have a valid driver’s license and be able to provide a clean driver’s abstract
  • Permanent, Full Time
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
