Warehouse Supervisor

Backed by a fifth-generation family-owned company, Spicers is a leading distributor of commercial print and business papers, specialty products, graphic solutions, sign & display equipment and materials, and packaging and facility supplies and equipment.

We’re based in Vaughan, Ontario, with 13 regional locations that include custom manufacturing facilities in Edmonton, Toronto and Winnipeg, as well as cash and carry locations, product showrooms and equipment demo sites.

We are currently looking for a full-time Warehouse Supervisor located in Dartmouth, NS, reporting to the Branch Manager, Atlantic Sign Graphics.

Under the supervision of the Branch Manager, Atlantic Sign Graphics, the duties and responsibilities of the Warehouse Supervisor include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Meet warehouse operational standards by contributing warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews. Implementing production, productivity, quality and customer service standards, resolving problems, and identifying warehouse system improvements;
• Ensure that the Branch Manager is aware of warehouse activities, problems and concerns;
• Delegating and assigning tasks to warehouse assistant;
• Supervising and ensuring efficiency of all warehouse employees;
• Coordinate workflow with employees;
• Organizing and conducting necessary training activities for the staff and workers;
• Operate equipment and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures;
• Participate in hands on coaching and in motivating warehouse employees;
• Maintain inventory levels by physical inventory, computer inventory and daily production reports;
• Ensure inventory is tagged and recorded properly when shipped;
• Resolve shipping issues and problems;
• Handle relevant administrative duties i.e. receiving’s and bills of lading are correctly completed daily;
• Ensuring the proper functioning of all warehouse equipment and machinery;
• Follow and promote health and safety policies and procedures at all times;
• Consistently demonstrate the Spicers core guiding principles and fulfill the Spicers leadership pledge; and
• Other duties as assigned.

• Completion of a secondary school diploma or equivalent;
• Minimum 3 – 5 years’ warehouse experience;
• Knowledge of paper, graphic arts, and industrial products;
• Strong communication skills (both oral and written);
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products;
• Superior leadership skills and interpersonal skills to manage employees, communication with a wide range of customers and to work closely with internal employees;
• Ability to foster high morale, enthusiasm, and teamwork;
• Ability to work under minimal supervision;
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills;
• Valid forklift certificate;
• WHMIS and T.G.D. certifications; and
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs;
• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals; and
• Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work and periodic flexible shift changes (i.e. vacation coverage, etc.).
