Skip‑a‑Long Childhood Centers, part of SAL Community Services, is the Quad Cities area’s leading provider of early childhood care and education. The Assistant Teacher supports the Teacher in developing a quality learning environment that is developmentally appropriate and actively engages children in the learning process.

Through experience this position will serve to enhance the child’s physical, emotional, cognitive, and social growth.

• Ensure safety practices in creating a secure environment that minimizes the risk of accidents and injuries.
• Assist in creating a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that encourages social interaction, emotional well‑being, and growth.
• Assist in the design and implementation of lesson plans based on knowledge of individual children’s interests and needs.
• Develop strong relationships with families/guardians to support each child’s development.
• Engage in continuous professional growth and development.

• Share a love for children and a passion for helping them learn, grow, and thrive.
• Enjoy following a routine, and welcome the in‑the‑moment changes that come with each day in childcare.
• Believe that early childhood education is the first step to a child's successful future.

Due to current funding from the Illinois Apprenticeship Pilot Project dependent on education and Illinois Gateways to Opportunity Credential attainment, hourly pay for this position ranges from $17.25 to $19.25. Additional details will be discussed upon interview.

Required: Must be 18 years old or older with a High School Diploma or equivalency certificate (GED) required. Meet the requirements established by the regulatory agency for the state in which employed.

Preferred: Experience working with children.
