• Supervision of all phases of the volleyball program—planning, strategy, instruction in fundamentals, and related duties
• Responsible for care and issuance of all volleyball equipment used by the team
• Communicate with the high school coaching staff and attend meetings or mini-clinics at high schools to ensure continuity in the DSCD 7-12 grade volleyball programs
• Understand, monitor and enforce district academic standards, policies and eligibility requirements
• Develop athletes to their fullest potential, starting with the basic fundamentals of volleyball and progressing to higher-level skills
• Understand and promote good sportsmanship among student-athletes
• Complete required reports and record accurately and in a timely manner
• Comply with athletic policies approved by the Board of Education
• Supervise athletes at all practices and games, as well as in the locker room and on the bus
• Maintain an enthusiastic attitude and ability to work with intermediate-aged youth in an athletic setting
• Work with the building Activity Director and the Director of Athletics for Davenport Community Schools
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration
• Support and implement Davenport’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for behavior and academics
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students
• Maintain good attendance and punctuality to ensure duties are performed successfully

• Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties
• Able to demonstrate volleyball techniques as necessary
• Occasionally lift, move, or push items of up to 50 lbs. (e.g., assisting students or moving/rearranging furniture)
• Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather
• Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff
• Ability to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures
