Mercy One Genesis Medical Group Join the Mercy One Family! We are looking to hire a Outpatient Ambulatory Infusion Nurse Educator in our Cancer Center ! The Outpatient Ambulatory Infusion Nurse Educator is responsible for the clinical education, training, and competency development of nurses and clinical staff within the outpatient infusion setting. This role ensures evidence-based practices are integrated into clinical workflows and supports ongoing professional development to enhance patient safety, quality of care, and regulatory compliance.
- Full time 40 hours a week
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Provides ongoing clinical education, skills assessments, and competency validations for infusion nurses, including PICC line care, central line access, and administration of IV therapies such as biologics, chemotherapy, antibiotics, blood products and hydration.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates orientation programs for newly hired nurses and clinical staff in the outpatient infusion center.
- Acts as a subject matter expert and clinical resource on infusion therapy best practices, safety protocols, and new clinical procedures and medications.
- Collaborates with leadership to identify staff education needs and develop targeted learning plans and in-service training sessions.
- Supports quality improvement initiatives and ensures compliance with institutional policies, state nursing board regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission).
- Precepts and mentors staff during the onboarding process and when pursuing specialty certification (OCN).
- Monitor and tracks continuing education progress and maintains documentation for regulatory audits.
- Partners with pharmacy, infection control, and other interdisciplinary teams to support coordinated, safe infusion care.
- Performs other duties as needed and assigned by Manger.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Attends patient reactions and offers assistance as needed.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
- Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of Nursing as normally obtained through current RN licensure with a Bachelor degree in Nursing (BSN), or Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN), and 2 years of ambulatory infusion or oncology nursing experience.
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare provider.
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
- Previous experience in clinical education or nurse preceptorship strongly preferred.
- Strong clinical expertise in intravenous therapy, venous access devices, and infusion- related complications.
