Position: Food and Nutrition Services Head Cook - 8 hrs/day (190 days/school year calendar)

Overview

Food and Nutrition Services Head Cook - 8 hrs/day (190 days/school year calendar) at Davenport Community Schools. This position oversees breakfast and lunch service at a satellite location and may heat manufacturer or district-approved prepared foods.

Location and Details

Site: Jefferson Elementary

Start Time: 6:15 am

End Time: 2:15 pm

Number of Hours/Day: 8 hrs / 5 days

Classification: Head Cook - Satellite

New Assignment Date: ASAP

Rate of Pay: $16.74/hr

NOTE:

This role is with Davenport Community Schools and includes responsibilities across food service operations at the satellite location and coordination with the central program.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for serving breakfasts and lunches that meet federal, state, and District requirements.
  • Oversees food service activities at the satellite location; may heat/conduct prepared foods per manufacturer/district instructions.
  • Orders foods and supplies.
  • Supervises food service personnel; oversees food service activities at the satellite location.
  • Assists in controlling food and supply costs with inventory control, proper storage and handling, and portion control.
  • Maintains records (production, payroll, attendance) required by federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Maintains standards of sanitation, safety, production, service, and food quality.
  • Communicates effectively with students, faculty, parents, coworkers and supervisors via person-to-person contact, phone, email, and written form; maintains good public relations.
  • Inspects equipment periodically, recommending needed repairs or replacement.
  • Assists in integrating the school’s food and nutrition services program into the educational program.
  • Assists manager in monitoring site performance and developing improvement strategies.
  • May be required to cover in buildings other than the one assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically able to stand for prolonged periods, walk during the day, work in warm environments, and lift at least 46 pounds. May require climbing stairs.
Special Qualifications / Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Maintain Serv Safe Certification (6 months to obtain).
