Maintenance Electrician

The Novelis plant located in Davenport, IA has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Electrician. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Salary: $41.14/ Hr

Responsibilities Include:

• Perform breakdown, corrective, renovative and preventative electrical maintenance.
• Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using test instruments.
• Repair malfunctions by replacing fuses, defective wiring, and cleaning or repairing motors and controls.
• Apply knowledge of gauges, wiring diagrams, schematics and properties of electricity to troubleshoot disabled or malfunctioning equipment.
• Plan procedures, develop sketches, and select tools, equipment, and materials best suited for the job. Maintain communication equipment and wiring.
• Diagnose and remedy furnace burner problems.
• Climb on building towers and equipment to make inspections, repairs, and installations.
• Consider all safety precautions and proper isolation of circuits to provide maximum safety precautions and a minimum of interference to operations. Follow all safety procedures and energy control (lockout/tagout). Utilize JSA’s.
• Operate forklift and use articulating and rotating boom hoist, telescoping hoist, scissors lift, and pick-up truck.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be a leader in safety and demonstrate concern for personal safety and safety of others.
• Team player and self-starter.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Electrical aptitude and understanding of National Electrical Code.
• PLC/Ladder Logic experience and knowledge.
• Motor drive knowledge and experience.
• Ability to work from blueprints and written instructions.
• Electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Capable of running conduit and wiring.
• Understanding of electrical distribution principles.
• Willingness to train and improve knowledge and skills.
• Three to five years of industrial electrical experience or a combination of training and work experience.
