Duties & Responsibilities- Communicate closely with DCSD Director of Athletics, building administration, High School ADs/coaches to ensure the program aligns with the beliefs and skill development of individual sports.
- Basic athletic knowledge of sports offered: basketball, soccer, track and field, and baseball/softball.
- Passion for student‑athletes to build skill and understanding for sports.
- Build relationships with high schools linked to the feeder schools:
- Smart Middle / Walcott Middle feeds to West High
- Wood Middle feeds to North High
- Williams Middle can feed to Central /North or West High
- Organize content experts to assist with teaching of skill and provide feedback to all student‑athletes.
- Organize competitions to showcase skills present in the programming.
- Attend meetings with DCSD Director of Athletics to discuss concerns and improvements in development of the program.
- Attend one City Track Meet to have participants voluntarily run in 3 events.
- Basic knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and health for athlete participation.
- Passion and belief that athletics teach life‑long lessons and extended skill beyond the classroom.
- Develop a plan for the school to teach skills and have competitions for each sport. The calendar will be shortened for 2025‑26 and will be year‑long 2026‑27.

- Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
- Occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
- Supervise students in all types of weather.
- Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
- Implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
- Noise level is quiet to loud.
- Work may be indoors and/or outdoors.
- Work may be in non‑air‑conditioned rooms.
- Substance‑free environment.
- Fast‑paced atmosphere with constant contact with students, staff, or the public.
- Direct responsibility for the safety, well‑being, and work output of students.
- Experience with competition/success at the state level is desired.

- Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
