• Supervision of all phases of the basketball program—planning, strategy, instruction in fundamentals, and related duties.
• Responsible for care and issuance of all basketball equipment used by the team.
• Communicate with the high school coaching staff and attend meetings or mini clinics at high schools to ensure continuity in the DSCD 7-12 grade basketball programs.
• Understand, monitor and enforce district academic standards, policies and eligibility requirements.
• Develop athletes to their fullest potential, starting with the basic fundamentals of basketball and progressing to advanced skills.
• Promote good sportsmanship among student-athletes.
• Complete required reports and record accurately and in a timely manner.
• Be knowledgeable of and responsible for the athletic policy approved by the Board of Education.
• Supervise athletes at all practices and games, as well as in the locker room and on the bus.
• Maintain an enthusiastic attitude and the ability to work with intermediate-aged youth in an athletic setting.
• Work with the building Activity Director and the Director of Athletics for Davenport Community Schools.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.
• Support and implement Davenport's MTSS for behavior and academics.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with culturally diverse students to help each child reach their potential.
• Maintain good attendance and punctuality to ensure duties are performed effectively.

• Must hold a valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Iowa Teaching License with Coaching Endorsement.
• Experience with competition or success at the state level is desired.
• Complete online application including a resume and 3 letters of reference.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to culturally diverse students.
