An established independent accountancy practice in Birmingham is looking for an ambitious Audit & Accounts Semi Senior / Senior to join its growing team. This isn't simply another audit role. For the right person, there is a genuine long-term opportunity to progress through the firm into management, Partner level and ultimately Audit RI (Responsible Individual) status as part of the firm's future succession plans.

The position is initially being offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract, but there is a genuine opportunity for it to become permanent. You'll work directly with experienced Managers and Partners across a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, charities and professional organisations.

The Role The workload will be approximately: 60% Audit 40% Accounts & Tax You'll gain broad exposure across general practice rather than being restricted to one area, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to continue developing both their audit and technical accounting experience. Audit Responsibilities You'll be involved in the full audit process, including:
Planning and completing statutory audit assignments Carrying out audit fieldwork both on-site and remotely Preparing audit working papers and supporting documentation Liaising directly with clients throughout assignments Identifying audit issues and discussing findings with Managers and Partners Ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines Developing your knowledge of auditing standards and procedures Building strong relationships with clients Accounts & Tax Responsibilities Alongside audit work, you'll also be involved in:
Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies Preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships Preparing corporation tax computations and returns Preparing VAT returns Preparing management accounts Assisting with information required for personal tax returns Supporting clients with day-to-day accounting queries Maintaining accurate and complete working papers Client Portfolio

About You We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates currently working as an:
Audit Semi Senior Audit Senior Audit & Accounts Semi Senior Audit & Accounts Senior ACA / ACCA Part-Qualified Accountant Recently ACA / ACCA Qualified Accountant You should have previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice and practical experience across both audit and accounts preparation. You'll ideally have:
Good knowledge of UK auditing standards and procedures Experience assisting with or completing statutory audits Accounts preparation experience Knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102 Strong communication and organisational skills Confidence dealing directly with clients Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines Good attention to detail

Experience with any of the following would also be beneficial: ACA or ACCA qualification / studies Charity audits or independent examinations Solicitors Accounts Rules Corporation tax returns CCH Xero Quick Books Sage Why Consider This Opportunity?
