DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a motivated and safety-focused Trainee Training Instructor who is ready to take the next step in their career and develop into a qualified Training Instructor.
This role is ideal for an experienced MHE Operator with strong safety awareness and the ability to communicate clearly. You will continue to operate MHE while receiving structured training, mentoring, and development to progress into an in-house Training Instructor.
Location:
UK Logistics Centre, Daventry
Shift Pattern:
Weekly rotation (06:30–14:30 / 15:00–23:00), on-site role
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Operate MHE safely and efficiently across the site.
- Promote safe behaviours and high operational standards.
- Provide on-the-job support to new or inexperienced operators.
- Work with the Training Team to improve training guides and materials.
- Take part in training, shadowing, assessments and development activities to build instructor skills, growing into an in‑house MHE Instructor who helps others succeed.
- Bring a positive attitude that encourages safe and steady work.
To be successful in role, you will need the following:
- Strong MHE experience (e.g., PPT, Counterbalance, Reach or relevant licences).
- Solid safety awareness and careful attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills, confidence using IT tools, and the ability to support different training styles.
- A positive, coachable mindset with the willingness to learn, grow, and take on new responsibilities.
- An organised and flexible approach, able to adapt to shift changes, travel for training, and support learners with clarity and empathy.
Education/
Experience:
- Prior experience as a trainer is beneficial, but not essential.
- Licences:
- B1 Counterbalance is essential, including a minimum of 6 months of operational experience on B1 Counterbalance.
- D2 Reach is advantageous.
- Crane licence is preferred (training can be provided).
- Commitment to completing RTITB Instructor and Crane Instructor courses, plus further upskilling (additional equipment and IOSH training).
- A clean safety record is required.
- A clear development path to become an accredited MHE Instructor.
- Ongoing coaching, mentoring, and structured training support.
- Opportunities to gain recognised qualifications.
- A role where you can positively influence safety standards and help others develop.
- Upon successful completion of the accredited RTITB training, a supplementary monthly allowance will be paid.
- Shift premium is payable on the late shift.
- Pay and conditions aligned with local bargained or union agreements.
Shortlisted candidates will attend a face-to-face interview, which includes a 30-minute presentation that the candidate must prepare in advance, followed by a Q&A session.
- 10 minutes:
Introduction to yourself. - 20 minutes: “Safe and efficient FLT operation – reducing risks and improving productivity.”
