The Role
My client is seeking an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to safely set and operate CNC machinery in line with internal quality and safety standards. The role involves machining metal components, carrying out detailed quality checks and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a morning shift position.
Key Responsibilities
• Safe operation of CNC machinery
• Loading and unloading raw materials and machined components
• Completing detailed quality inspections against dimensional drawings using Hexagon measuring equipment, verniers, micrometers and gauges
• Tooling maintenance and servicing, including correct insert selection, checking tool heights, setting offsets, and applying appropriate speeds and feed rates
• Supporting continuous improvement activities
• Adhering to Health & Safety requirements, including PPE, SOP compliance, assisting with risk assessments and highlighting potential hazards
• Ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards
• Carrying out additional operational duties as required
• Machine setting including:
– Selection and pre-machining of work holding jaws and vices
– Loading correct tooling
– Selecting appropriate programs from the machine memory
– Setting machines to first-off stage and making program amendments using CAP’s where required
The Candidate
An engineering-based qualification in machining, manufacturing or a related discipline would be advantageous
At least two years of hands-on experience working within a CNC or precision machining environment
Confident setting and operating CNC machining centres and lathes independently
Familiarity with Mori Seiki machinery would be beneficial
Comfortable working to tight timescales while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Dependable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
Salary
£34,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
