Associate Director of Annual Giving -

This position oversees the advancement of Davidson's alumni giving participation rate, which has historically been ranked among the highest of all colleges and universities nationally. Responsibilities include outreach strategy development and oversight of internal and external advocacy for participation support. The successful candidate will be motivated by goal-oriented work and the value of giving, make data-informed decisions and demonstrate enthusiasm for collaborating with others.

This position reports to the Director of Annual Giving.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Direct outreach:
    Contact potential donors in a personal and timely manner, including through phone, email, and in-person visits, to advocate for support. (30%)
  • Strategy and implementation:
    Develop strategies to increase alumni giving participation. Lead implementation of these strategies, and guide collaboration with engagement and fundraising colleagues and campus partners. (20%)
  • Virtual Development Officer (VDO) management:
    Oversee the implementation and ongoing management of Davidson's first Virtual Development Officer powered by Version
    2.ai. Includes supporting knowledge base from which VDO operates and carrying out personal follow up. (20%)
  • Ne Ultra Giving Society:
    Lead program strategies to work with colleagues and volunteers to increase Ne Ultra (leadership annual giving level) giving across all constituencies in collaboration with the college's donor relations team. (15%)
  • Parent Annual Giving Liaison:
    Work in partnership with the director of parent giving to develop and implement plans to increase annual giving support from current and past parents. (10%)
  • Volunteer Management:
    Recruit, train and manage fundraising volunteers in five alumni classes throughout each fiscal year. (5%)
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Desire and ability to work effectively with persons from diverse generational, religious, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Technical acumen including ability to interpret and manage data
  • High degree of personal initiative, with ability to work autonomously and oversee concurrent programs and priorities
Desired Qualifications
  • More than two years of relevant experience. Experience in higher education, fundraising, alumni and/or constituent relations, volunteer management, or public relations is preferred, but other relevant experience will be considered.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, especially in working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Experience working with artificial intelligence
  • Superior attention to detail while also understanding big-picture objectives
  • Appreciation for the role of education in our society
