Schedule: Every other Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from 1500 hours (3:00 PM) to 0300 hours (3:00 AM) August thru May
Position SummaryThe Davidson College Campus Police Department is seeking a dedicated and professional Part-Time Police Officer to serve the community during scheduled night shifts. This officer will work every other Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM, providing law enforcement presence, emergency response, and public safety services. This role is ideal for certified officers seeking part-time employment or retired officers looking to stay active in law enforcement.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect criminal activity.
- Respond to emergency calls, accidents, disturbances, and other incidents.
- Conduct traffic stops and issue citations or warnings as appropriate.
- Investigate crimes, interview witnesses, collect evidence, and write detailed reports.
- Make arrests and transport individuals to detention facilities as needed.
- Assist in crowd control and maintain public order during special events or disturbances.
- Provide backup support to full-time officers and other emergency personnel.
- Perform wellness checks and provide community assistance where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports during the shift.
- Uphold department policies, procedures, and ethical standards at all times.
- Must be a certified law enforcement officer in North Carolina.
- Prior experience as a police officer preferred.
- Must pass a background investigation, drug screening, and medical evaluation.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
- Night shift hours ) every other Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
- Exposure to all weather conditions and potentially dangerous situations.
- Physically demanding - includes standing, walking, driving, and occasional physical confrontations.
- Must be able to wear and operate standard law enforcement equipment.
