Assistant Professor of Vegetable Crop Production

UC Davis, a leading R1 institution, seeks Assistant Professor (9‑month tenure‑track) who will serve in the Plant Sciences Department. Candidates should have a strong record in vegetable crop production, spanning research, teaching, and outreach that addresses California’s and the nation’s agricultural challenges.
Responsibilities- Establish a competitively funded research program focused on vegetable crop production systems, climate resilience, sustainable soil, water and nutrient management, AI/remote sensing, weed management, crop quality, food safety, and human nutrition.
- Teach 2½ courses per year in plant science and vegetable production, with potential courses including Organic Crop Production, Crop Management Practices in Vegetable Production, and related undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, contributing to curriculum development.
- Engage in outreach with Cooperative Extension, industry partners, and community stakeholders; serve on departmental and university service activities.
- Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Agronomy, Agroecology, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated record of independent research and the ability to obtain extramural funding.
- Evidence of teaching excellence and experience designing and delivering undergraduate or graduate courses.
- Strong communication skills, collegiality, and commitment to inclusive excellence.
- Interest and experience in mission‑oriented research and outreach at a land‑grant university.
Competitive salary range: $105,700 – $129,600 per year (off‑scale awards possible).
