Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, Associated Students Business Management, Administration and Operations, and with a reporting relationship to the President of ASUCD, this is a critical position in the ASUCD Office. The role provides direct supervision to ASUCD for matters related to campus special and mega events, marketing and strategic partnerships, student representation on UC Davis Administrative Advisory Committees (AAC) and general support to undergraduate student government.

The Senior Director will work directly with ASUCD midsize to mega sponsored events, serve as an advisor to administration and campus stakeholders, provide direction, support, analyze and solve problems, and lead long‑term planning regarding operations, personnel and compliance with campus policies and procedures. They will liaise with ASUCD and the Provost’s Office to promote the AAC application process to all undergraduate students, review applications, assist in development of interview committees and questions, schedule interviews, and work with ASUCD to confirm candidates.

The Senior Director will also act as a facilitator between ASUCD and Intercollegiate Athletics, serve as an analyst to the Athletics Advisory Committee, and participate on other relevant committees. The role includes supervising staff to ensure accountability and stewardship of ASUCD resources in compliance with department goals and objectives, and representing the department across campus.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid California driver’s license and a driving record in accordance with local policies, or enrollment in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
  • Master’s and/or doctorate in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, Leadership, or related field, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in leadership positions in higher education/student service or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in program planning.
  • Experience working with students to implement large‑scale events.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to distill complex data into clear reports, presentations and slides.
  • Advanced project‑management experience and ability to multi‑task with demanding time frames.
  • Knowledge of university‑level policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with administrators and students, with diplomacy and tact.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with in an athletics environment to understand its complex structure.
  • Prior experience planning midsize to large events.
  • 5+ years of related experience in higher education, especially in student government, coordination and advising.
  • Experience working in a diverse environment with diverse populations.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate student employees with flexible schedules.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy.
  • Professionalism in relationship building.
  • Organizational skills to handle changing priorities and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strict security of confidential information.
  • Professional communication skills in person, on the telephone and in writing.
  • Strong political and organizational acumen.
  • Political astuteness and balanced perspective on issues.
  • Unbiased fact‑seeking in search of facts and information.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
