Position: RN Educator (CLIN NURSE EDUC 3)

Job Summary

The Health Professions Education Grants team is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join a cross‑functional team that manages a portfolio of grants. The main goal of this team is to advance interprofessional education, enhance clinicians’ knowledge and skills, and facilitate faculty practice development through grants focused on primary care health workforce, faculty clinical practice development, and nursing educators. The CNE will work on multiple workforce development grants, including the implementation of a Department of Labor (DOL) grant:
The Residency in Education, Teaching, and Instruction in Nursing (RETAIN) program to increase the number of nursing instructors and faculty. The CNE will apply professional concepts and nursing experience to plan and develop educational experiences, including didactic presentations, simulations and educational videos. The CNE will ensure timely completion of all project deliverables, working under the general supervision of an experienced nurse educator.

The CNE will assist in creating or adapting educational content, setting up systems, collecting evaluation data, and may include evaluating educational experiences. The CNE will also be responsible for the logistical operations of some educational activities, working closely with the Health Professions Education Grants team, faculty and external partners. The CNE may also be involved in programmatic operations including admissions processes and work closely with project leadership to ensure successful implementation of projects, meeting all reporting requirements.

This position is grant‑funded, 100% contract, funded through May 31 2028, contingent on receipt of federal award and continuation depends on additional grant funds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid California RN license.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school with a BSN.
  • Experience as an instructor for entry‑level and intermediate clinical nurse educators.
  • Experience developing, implementing and adapting evidence‑based curriculum and education programs.
  • Experience delivering nursing orientation, clinical skills training, simulation‑based learning, and structured debriefing sessions.
  • Experience in management and presentation skills to organize and guide learner groups during educational experiences.
  • Experience evaluating nurses’ competencies and clinical skills.
  • Experience coordinating logistics and daily operations of educational activities, including simulation scheduling, set‑up, and learner flow.
  • Experience designing, disseminating, collecting and analyzing program evaluations and surveys.
  • Experience monitoring learners and their progress including completion of training activities, deliverables and other program requirements.
  • Experience preparing comprehensive program evaluation reports.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) to deliver curriculum and track learner progress.
  • Experience with healthcare education management systems (e.g., Med Hub, e‑Value).
  • Experience using web‑based survey systems (e.g., Qualtrics).
  • Experience in simulation development and implementation, including group debriefing.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse community members representing various ethnic, cultural, language, educational, socioeconomic, and political views.
  • Ability to deliver education to diverse learners across professions and levels of experience.
  • Strong facilitation skills to lead simulations, interactive learning, group activities, and skill‑building.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles to effectively plan, deliver and evaluate instruction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong technological competence with databases, spreadsheets and presentation software.
  • Demonstrated project management and administrative support to oversee multiple complex projects and activities simultaneously.
