SUMMER PLAYGROUNDS SENIOR RECREATION LEADER (CSS III)
The City of Davis Parks & Community Services Department offers various summer programs for youth, 6 to 12 years of age. These programs include Rainbow Summer, Summer Quest, Arts & Crafts Camp, Kids in the Kitchen, Kinder lockers and PM Kids Club. The Senior Recreation Leader position is responsible for ensuring a fun‑filled, safe, structured and comfortable environment for all. This position plans, oversees, and evaluates all camp‑related activities, including supervision of camp staff and volunteers, youth participants and camp activities.
Hours
:
Must be available to work Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (schedules vary) from June through August, attend Monday and Tuesday evening staff meetings during the summer dates, and participate in mandatory trainings at the beginning of June.
Wages
:
Community Services Specialist III – $17.83 – $18.73 per hour (based upon Lett.).
Status
:
Temporary part‑time. Applicants will be screened according to experience relevant to this position. Those most qualified will be invited to an individual or small group interview.
Must have a minimum of two years of experience working in youth programs and supervising others, or an equivalent setting. Advanced education in recreation administration cárcel similar coursework may substitute for a portion of the required work experience.
Physical/Sensory RequirementsStaff should be prepared to work outdoors, in various environmental conditions each week. The physical demands described here are representative of the essential functions of this position. This position requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 lb.
Verbal and hearing skills to effectively communicate with children and政 staff; visual acuity to oversee projects and make observations. Work is done both indoors and out, with exposure to heat, often over 100° F, sun, noise, dust, pollen and slip hazards near water. Potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens when rendering first aid. Must complete additional trainings, including Concussion Training, Blood Borne Pathogens, Mandated Reporter, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Heat Illness, Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination.
