Overview
As a KS3/KS4 SEND Teacher at Orchard Manor School you will plan and deliver high‑quality, engaging and personalised learning for pupils with SEND. You will adapt instruction to meet the needs of pupils with autism, communication difficulties, SEMH and anxiety, use a Total Communication approach, and support pupils’ academic achievement, wellbeing, independence and personal development.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high‑quality, engaging and personalised learning.
- Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of SEND needs, including autism, communication difficulties, SEMH and anxiety‑related barriers to learning.
- Deliver meaningful learning experiences that support academic achievement and preparation for adulthood.
- Use a Total Communication approach to help pupils engage, communicate and succeed.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and multi‑agency professionals.
- Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, independence and personal development.
- Contribute to EHCP outcomes through highly personalised provision and targeted support.
- Be part of a reflective staff team committed to continual improvement and best practice across the Trust.
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Be adaptable, reflective and solution‑focused.
- Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Have high expectations for all learners.
- Be committed to inclusion, wellbeing and relational practice.
- Ideally have experience working within a SEND setting or supporting pupils with autism, communication needs or SEMH.
- Value teamwork, collaboration and professional development.
You will be supported through coaching, collaboration and ongoing professional development, regardless of your current SEND experience level.
