• Assessing, planning, delivering, monitoring and reviewing programmes of intervention that support pupils to make accelerated progress, using appropriate assessment tools and evidence‑based strategies to meet identified learning needs
• Using your specialist curricular/learning skills and experience to establish an appropriate learning environment
• Preparing for and supervising activities of individuals or groups to ensure safety, welfare and development, under the direction of the class teacher
• Undertaking activities necessary to meet the physical, social and emotional needs of individuals and groups of children
• Being aware of individual students’ needs and progress and reporting these to the classroom teacher or designated supervisor when requested or necessary
• Assisting in the planning and evaluation of educational work programmes, including participating in learning activities such as Literacy, Numeracy, Technology and ICT
• Developing your effectiveness in a support role and attending training courses/events as required
• Developing skills necessary to work effectively with special needs children
• Providing scaffolding of learning tasks, verbally, visually and in writing for identified students within lessons and on a 1:1 basis
