We are searching for experienced or aspiring Healthcare Assistants who would like to start a career within our Mental Health, Learning Disability and Neurodiversity Services. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at the Regional Learning Disability and Autism Unit in Dawlish (The Brook). The Brook provides high quality care and treatment for people who have learning disabilities and autistic patients with complex mental health needs.

- Assist multi‑disciplinary team members in the delivery of care and treatment to people using our services, encompassing social, physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs.
- Undertake practical procedures under the supervision of trained nursing staff.
- Work flexible 24/7 shifts – mornings (starting from 7 am), short days and long days (10–12 h), evenings (up to 8 pm) and nights (from about 7 pm). Unsocial shift enhancements are awarded in addition to basic pay.

- Essential – Basic Education and completion of the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment unless already obtained or evidence of equivalent.
- Desirable – NVQ Level 3, QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent; other evidence of training or development relevant to mental health settings.
- Essential – Previous employment or experience of working with people in a caring situation or in a different role within mental health, learning disability or autism services.
- Essential – Awareness of safeguarding principles, IT skills, ability to make and sustain professional therapeutic relationships, good communication and listening skills, work with individuals and in groups, maintain personal boundaries, problem‑solving skills, plan work and manage time, complete records and observations, take direction from qualified staff, participate in unsupervised tasks, provide practical support with daily living activities, respond promptly to emergencies, remain patient and tolerant in challenging situations.
- Desirable – Knowledge of mental health and a basic understanding of physical health presentations.
