Orchard Manor School is looking to appoint a Cleaner to join our friendly and committed team. This is an important role in helping us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our students, staff and visitors. The successful candidate will provide a professional and reliable cleaning service across the school site, working as part of the cleaning team to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene at all times.
Responsibilities- Undertake a daily cleaning programme across the school.
- Clean classrooms, offices, meeting rooms, facilities and shared areas.
- Prepare and clean rooms for meetings.
- Carry out periodic deep‑cleaning tasks, including carpets, floors, windows, light fittings, walls, blinds and upholstery.
- Operate cleaning equipment and machinery safely and appropriately.
- Ensure cloakrooms and facilities are stocked with soap, towels and other supplies, maintaining adequate stocks of cleaning materials.
- Undertake emergency cleaning when required.
- Report any defects, concerns or security issues to the Site Supervisor or Line Manager.
- Act as a joint key holder and support the security of the site, including alarm procedures.
- Follow all relevant rules, regulations and procedures, including Health and Safety and COSHH.
- Assess whether lifting or moving items of equipment can be carried out safely, or whether support or additional equipment is required.
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Is reliable, flexible and able to work well as part of a team.
- Has good interpersonal skills.
- Can work safely and follow procedures.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and professional conduct.
- Is committed to supporting a clean and safe environment for pupils and staff.
- Previous cleaning experience in a school or similar environment is desirable.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations is an advantage.
1 x 12.5 hours per week (after school hours), 41 weeks per year (term time plus 2 weeks).
1 x 16 hours per week (time to be confirmed), 41 weeks per year (term time plus 2 weeks).
Salary: £25,208 FTE per annum (£13.07 per hour). Competitive salary and attractive terms and conditions, including holidays.
