Under the direction of a Company Officer or Chief Officer, the Paid-On-Call Firefighter performs firefighting, emergency medical, rescue, and related duties in protecting life and property. Firefighters participate in training, public education, equipment and facility maintenance, and community engagement activities.
Paid-On-Call Firefighters must reside within 10 minutes of one of the City of Dayton Fire Stations, respond to at least 25% of all emergency calls throughout each 12-month period, attend four of the six training sessions offered within a quarter, and participate in at least two community engagement events per year.
