Staff Accountant

Accounting Analyst

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support a highly structured, internal-facing accounting function within an IT-focused finance organization. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys clear processes, transactional accounting work, and consistent workflows, and who takes pride in accuracy, follow-through, and strong documentation. The position supports internal business teams only and plays a key role in maintaining clean, reliable financial records.

This is a 6-month contracted and hybrid role located in Dayton, Ohio.

• Prepare and post routine journal entries using established step-by-step procedures, including entries related to prepaid expenses and internal purchases.
• Process and validate invoices for internal technology-related purchases, ensuring accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
• Maintain and update prepaid amortization schedules and prepare related journal entries, accounting for a meaningful portion of monthly work.
• Perform basic account reconciliations by reviewing transaction detail and confirming account completeness and accuracy.
• Support monthly accounting activities by downloading reports, performing basic calculations, and ensuring entries align with documented workflows.

• 8+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role with a strong transactional focus.
• Working knowledge of Excel, including formulas for sums, multiplication, division, and lookup functions.
• Experience working with structured accounting processes and documented workflows.
• Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Oracle is preferred but not required.
• Degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus, but equivalent practical experience will be considered.
