Staff Accountant

Our client is seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support a highly structured, internal‑facing accounting function within an IT‑focused finance organization. This role is well‑suited for someone who enjoys clear processes, transactional accounting work, and consistent workflows, and who takes pride in accuracy, follow‑through, and strong documentation. The position supports internal business teams only and plays a key role in maintaining clean, reliable financial records.

This role is a hybrid model in Dayton, Ohio.

• Prepare and post routine journal entries using established step‑by‑step procedures, including entries related to prepaid expenses and internal purchases.
• Process and validate invoices for internal technology‑related purchases, ensuring accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
• Maintain and update prepaid amortization schedules and prepare related journal entries, accounting for a meaningful portion of monthly work.
• Perform basic account reconciliations by reviewing transaction detail and confirming account completeness and accuracy.
• Support monthly accounting activities by downloading reports, performing basic calculations, and ensuring entries align with documented workflows.

• 8+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role with a strong transactional focus.
• Working knowledge of Excel, including formulas for sums, multiplication, division, and lookup functions.
• Experience working with structured accounting processes and documented workflows.
• Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Oracle is preferred but not required.
• Degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus, but equivalent practical experience will be considered.

Compensation: $40‑$55/hr. (DOE)
